Let me start out by saying that the games I play are ussually rare/hard-to-find/abnormal/etc. or at least at the time; point in case, I bet you no ones played Rise of Legends/The Golden Horde/Fire Emblem (well maybe Fire Emblem since Super Smash Bros. popularized them). I typically find games like CoD, Age of Empires 1 and 2, No More Heroes 1 (excluding boss fights and story which redeem it), the modern (2006+) WoW, even Skyrim and Oblivion (not the elder scrolls series) to be boring repetitive uninspired games with little to no challenge.
So when I finally picked up Mass Effect I was suprised. It was actually enjoyable! If you haven’t heard already this it’s a mix between RPG and 3rd person shooter (sort of like a serious, 3rd person borderlands). It wasn’t perfect; they created it mostly to tell a story which I’m fine with (I like Dear Ester) but they when they throw in the there are only like 5-6 enemies at a time and they’re all tanks that can take a ton of hits or insanely weak infantry, and just when you’ve gotten in the mood for combat it’s over and then it takes another 30 minutes to fight the next opponent. Finally the game was just to short: including the tutorial mission, the battle with Fist and spliting the last level into the Ilos/conduit and citadel with the reapers you still had 8 different missions.
Still dispite its problems Mass Effect was amazing: other than the major problems listed above, the combat system was absolutely stellar, the story was so engaging that I felt like I was commander Shepard. Normally I don’t care about graphics; however, I want to make an exeception with this one.
